The Twenty Percent

I spoke to Lester, who helps run Mexisoccer, a local business that hosts soccer games.

After speaking with Lester, I found 3 players who participated in the Sunday games. Sunday nights are a popular time for players!

None of the players were comfortable being on video (they had just played games and were all sweaty, so I don't blame them), but I was able to talk to them. I had to cut the audio tapes a lot because we ended up going off about soccer, so I had to cut those parts out.

I think what Lester spoke about was reflected in the players. Some of the players were a little upset with the outcome of the games, and on some occasions, the league, but they keep coming back. Whatever Mexisoccer is doing, they're doing it right.

  1. Your interviews are very interesting to watch (Of course without the participants even being recorded)! Mexisoccer definitely looks like they know what they are doing especially in terms of growing the business. The marketing techniques they need to use to keep players and fans satisfied have to be consistent. Check out my post here: http://joeyrubio.blogspot.com/2016/02/the-twenty-percent.html

  2. Melissa,

I thought it was very clever of you to include pictures in the background of the interviews while the person interviewed was speaking. That gave me an idea of the team as a whole and connected with the person speaking without having to see them face to face. I found this business idea interesting, and very inclusive which I think gets a lot of interest from those just wanting to play soccer. Thank you for sharing! I missed the deadline for this assignment, but I enjoyed learning about your interviews and what made Mexisoccer a successful business. Good Luck with the rest of the class!

  3. My favorite part was the car horn in the beginning of Lester's interview. I also get nervous, Lester. I'm not well versed in soccer or its culture so I cant really provide any valid feedback , but MexiSoccer seems like a fun place to be with quite a daring name so props to them. Lester seems nice. For a man (relatively) open about his anxieties he seems to be doing a wonderful job building a business and more importantly a community.

  4. Great interviews! No worries Lester, I get nervous too. I agree with Lauren in that the picture you added to the audio helped solidify the idea of a team. I wouldn't normally think of soccer players on a team as customers, but you illustrate that nicely. Do they have to pay to remain on the league? Anyways, feel free to check out my 80-20 assignment here: http://biancamarques23.blogspot.com/2016/02/the-twenty-percent.html

  5. Lester,

I give you major brownie points for completing this assignment, I unfortunately wasn't able to complete it due to lack of wifi in my home town lol. I know that sounds weird but I swear that is what happened. I did get to interview a test prep company and it was very interesting to see the different types of responses you were able to get! The pictures and audio were great it was interesting to see what the players outlooks were on the business. Great job!
